Bond 25 gets February 2020 release date, Cary Joji Fukunaga directs

After Danny Boyle's departure from the Bond 25 project due to "creative issues", Cary Joji Fukunaga direct the fifth outing of Daniel Craig as James Bond, to be released worldwide on a very unusual date for a Bond film: 14 February 2020.


Known for the TV series TRUE DETECTIVE, Fukunawa was announced this morning on a short press release on the official James Bond site, where producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: “We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure”.

It is understood that the film will be based on the treatment writtern by the regular screenwriters Neal Purvis & Robert Wade back in 2017 after scribe John Hodge left the production with Boyle.

Bond 25 will commence shooting on 4 March 2019 at Pinewood Studios. It's going to be the first Bond film to be released on the year that begins a decade and the first Bond film to be released during the first trimester of the year in the United Kingdom.

Danny Boyle out of Bond 25 due to "creative issues"

Danny Boyle stepped down from the director's chair of the 25th James Bond film, set for a November 2019 release worldwide. Not much has been disclosed on the official James Bond site, but producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, with Daniel Craig, have written a statement declaring the TRAINSPOTTING director will no longer direct the movie due to "creative issues".

There's the possibility that John Hodge's treatment for the film will also be discarded and EON might return to the original idea by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade.

OFFICIAL: Danny Boyle to direct BOND 25, written by John Hodge and distributed by Universal

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

Production on Bond 25 will begin in December with Danny Boyle directing Daniel Craig’s 5th outing as Bond. EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM) have reached an agreement with Universal Pictures to partner on the worldwide release of the 25th James Bond film.



Daniel Craig returns as 007 and Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Steve Jobs) will direct from an original screenplay by Academy Award nominee John Hodge (Trainspotting) with production set to begin on 3 December 2018. Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures will release the film theatrically in the US on 8 November 2019 through its new joint venture for domestic theatrical distribution with Annapurna Pictures, and Universal Pictures will release internationally commencing with the traditional earlier release in the UK on 25 October 2019.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli commented, “We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th instalment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal Pictures will be our international distributor.”

“Under the leadership of Michael and Barbara, we couldn’t be more thrilled than to bring the next 007 adventure to the big screen uniting the incomparable Daniel Craig with the extraordinary vision of Danny Boyle,” said MGM’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kevin Ulrich. MGM’s President, Motion Picture Group Jonathan Glickman added, “It has been 16 years since DIE ANOTHER DAY was distributed by MGM and it’s incredibly gratifying to be releasing this film alongside the powerhouse team at Universal.”

“Universal is extremely proud to collaborate with Michael, Barbara and MGM on the international marketing and distribution of Bond 25,” said Chairman of Universal Pictures Donna Langley. “The unparalleled combination of Danny’s innovative filmmaking and Daniel’s embodiment of 007 ensured we simply had to be partners in the next chapter of this iconic series.”

Daniel Craig returns for Bond 25

After many comings and goings, Daniel Craig has finally confirmed his return as James Bond for a fifth (and apparently last) time to Stephen Colbert during his appaerance at The Late Show.

With a simple "yes" to Colbert's question, the Liverpool-raised actor declared he has the intention to leave "on a high note" after four leading performances in CASINO ROYALE (2006), QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008), SKYFALL (2012) and SPECTRE (2015), which he also co-produced.

Bond 25 will be released in US cinemas on November 8, 2019.

James Bond returns in 2019

EON Productions has announced the US release date for the next James Bond film, the 25th official 007 adventure since the release of DR NO in 1962, for November 9th, 2019. 

Bond 25 will be written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, the team behind the latest six James Bond cinematic adventures, and will be produced by Michael G Wilson & Barbara Broccoli. Additional details will be confirmed troughout the year.

Pierce Brosnan remembers Sir Roger Moore on Variety

Four-time James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan wrote a remembrance of former 007 star Sir Roger Moore, who has passed away last week, on today's issue of Variety. In the article, the GOLDENEYE star reflected on the impact Moore's career in his life, long before he succeeded him in the role of James Bond.

"Roger was the man — the world was at his feet. He was most gracious to the children and myself," Brosnan wrote, remembering his childhood fascination with THE SAINT, the time his late wife Cassandra Harris appeared as one of Moore's Bond girls in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY and the day when Moore visited him on the set of GOLDENEYE at Leavesden.

"We fell in love with a magnificent actor," Brosnan continued. "Never forgetting the audience, never letting the begrudgers in, Sir Roger enthralled the world for many years as Bond. Sir Roger played it to the end with impeccable good manners and a wicked sense of irony that was born of years upon the stage."

Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore are often considered by the moviegoers as the ones who offered the most comical portrayals of Ian Fleming's character onscreen. At the same time, both actors were well known for their philantropic activities off the big screen: Moore as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Brosnan with many wildlife associations.

RIP Sir Roger Moore (1927-2017)

The third big screen James Bond has passed away at the age of 89, this morning after succumbing to a short cancer. He played Ian Fleming's secret agent in seven films from 1973 to 1985.

Born on October 14, 1927, Roger George Moore joined RADA and has appeared on many films and series from a wide range of genres, particularly action and comedy. He became worldwide famous after the role of Simon Templar in THE SAINT, based on Leslie Charteris books. In 1972, he was approach to portray James Bond after Sean Connery's indeclinable resignation to the role and from LIVE AND LET DIE to A VIEW TO A KILL, he moulded 007 with his own personality: wits, charisma and a lot of humour, turning Ian Fleming's dark and gritty spy into a comic-book action hero. While some observed this as a mistake, Moore's portayal of the role of James Bond has won a lot of fans and kept the flame of 007 alive for over twelve years.

In 1991, Moore joined UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador and in 2003 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

GOLDENEYE star Pierce Brosnan has expressed his sadness trough Instagram: "Dear Sir Roger Moore, It is indeed with a heavy heart that I hear the news of your passing this morning. You were a big part of my life, from The Saint to James Bond.. .you were a magnificent James Bond and one that lead the way for me, the world will miss you and your unique sense of humor for years to come. My sincerest condolences to your family and children. RIP". 

Moore played 007 in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, opposite Brosnan's first wife Cassandra Harris (who also died of cancer) and he visited the set of GOLDENEYE, where his son Christian was working as a second assistant director.

The Oscar's on The Wall - SPECTRE wins Academy Award for Best Original Song

Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes won the Academy Award for their work on "Writing's on The Wall", the main title song for the latest James Bond film SPECTRE, which is now out on BluRay and DVD.


An incredulous Smith picked up the Oscar and dedicated it to the LGBT community after singing the song live on stage minutes before. He was picked by the Academy over songs like "Earned it", from FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and Lady Gaga's "Till it Happens to You" from the documentary of the same name.

This is the fifth triumph for the James Bond series at the Oscars after GOLDFINGER (1965, Best Sound - Norman Wanstall), THUNDERBALL (1966, Best Special Effects - John Stears), SKYFALL (2013, Best Sound Editing - Per Hallberg and Karen Baker / Best Original Song - Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth).

Writing's on The (Golden) Globe!

British singer Sam Smith and lyricist Jimmy Napes won the Golden Globe award to Best Original Song for the main title song of the latest James Bond film, SPECTRE, titled "Writing's on The Wall". 

After Adele's 2013 triumph of the SKYFALL theme song, it seems luck is still on James Bond side as singer Katy Perry announced "Writing's on the Wall" as the winning song, beating Ellie Goulding's "Love me Like You Do" (FIFTY SHADES OF GREY), "One Kind of Love" (LOVE & MERCY), "See you again" (FURIOUS 7), "Simple song #3" (YOUTH).

"This is the most interesting night of my life", the 23-year-old performed expressed as he got the award by the side of Jimmy Napes. He later thanked Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli, among others.

SPECTRE BluRay & DVD announced

The first details of the SPECTRE home video editions have been announced trough the official James Bond site. The 24th Bond adventure will be available on Digital HD on February 19th and on BluRay/DVD on February 22nd in the UK.

According to ComingSoon.net, the disc will feature the same six videoblogs released trough the 007 Youtube channel, plus a special featurette on the shooting of the movie's opening sequence in Mexico City. A still gallery will also be available among the contents.

Directed by Sam Mendes, SPECTRE sees Bond (Daniel Craig) following the lead of a mysterious organization whose leader Franz Oberhauser (Cristoph Waltz) shares a shocking connection with him. Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci portray the film's leading ladies, as Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Rory Kinnear return to their respective roles in the MI6 staff. Danish actor Jesper Christensen reprises the role of Mr White, last seen in 2008's QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

Martin Campbell to direct Pierce Brosnan and Jackie Chan in new movie

Twenty years after the release of GOLDENEYE, Pierce Brosnan's first appaerance as James Bond and Martin Campbell's debut as a 007 director, the duo is now back for an upcoming thriller set in London and dealing with IRA terrorists, co-starring popular martial arts expert and actor Jackie Chan.

The yet untitled movie will tell the story of Jackie Chan's character avenging the death of his wife, killed during an IRA bombing. Tracking the assasins, he'll be joined by Brosnan's character Liam Hennesy, a former IRA member who has now turned into a government official.

This wonderful news were announced by Martin Campbell's wife Sol Romero on Twitter and AintItCool.com gave some details on the project.

SPECTRE Review: When Arrows Meet

As the first notes of the James Bond Theme started to sound in the very first minutes of the movie, I knew what was coming. A friend, seated on the lower row of the theatre, looked at me and -eyes wide open- smiled, because she knew that moment was the moment for me. SPOILERS AHEAD.

I'll write this review not as the editor of this site, or as a Bond expert, or as a journalism student. I'll choose first person because every Bond release is for me a tradition as Christmas Day, and every 007 movie released is usually attached to a personal moment in my life, either my childhood during the Pierce Brosnan days or high school during Daniel Craig's two first Bond outings. 

I became a James Bond fan shortly after playing the 1997 videogame version of GOLDENEYE and watching the film on TV, amazed at that iconic gunbarrel sequence where agent 007 walked from one side to the other and shot to the audience, as the iris revealed the first frame of the actual movie. 20 years later (17, actually, since I watched it in 1998) I was sitting on the theatre, and I guess my friend gave me that look because that moment I was talking about was the gunbarrel sequence, the sugar rush moment for any Bond enthusiast: the white dots, Bond walking, shooting and the blood dripping down. That moment only was worth the admission ticket for me, particularly after the classic sequence was altered during this new era, disappointingly left for the end of the film.

SPECTRE sees the fourth appaerance of Daniel Craig as James Bond, the second Bond film helmed by Sam Mendes and the return of the new MI6 team defined in SKYFALL: Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny. Lasting 140 dinamic minutes that aren't half boring, the 24th film in the EON Productions' series is addictive and absolutely thrilling: the perfect mixture of the old Bond from the 1960s and the 2006 reboot with CASINO ROYALE, directed by Martin Campbell.

As Bond bursts into action by killing an Italian assasin on a rogue assignament in Mexico City during the beautifully shot "Day of the Dead" parade, there's already a touching connection with my favourite Bond film GOLDENEYE as 007 levels off a falling helicopter, in the same way twenty years ago Pierce Brosnan did during that mission in the USSR. Sam Smith's "Writing's on the Wall" song beautifully sounds as octopus tentacles wrap around the silohuette of Bond and a girl, showing reflections of the previous three adventures and we then go to the main story: Bond  -under posthumal orders from Judi Dench's M- follows the lead of Lucia (Monica Bellucci), the assasins' widow in Rome, who leads him to a mysterious organization: SPECTRE, lead by Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), who is no other that the envious foster brother 007 had during his childhood.

The film isn't perfect: some scenes look like a waste of time (too many unnecesary participation of Andrew Scott's C, the mysterious new MI5 leader), the connection between SPECTRE and the previous three villains (Le Chiffre, Dominic Greene and Raoul Silva) isn't deep enough or satisfactorily explained, and Thomas Newman's soundtrack -even when it works- is way too repetitive of SKYFALL. The relationship between Bond and the leading lady Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) should have been deeper: the romantic dinner is beautifuly shot, but lacks the depth of Natalya's exploration of Bond's profession at the Cuban beach or Vesper's warming to the "cold hearted bastard" in the two entries Martin Campbell provided to the series.

Nevertheless, SPECTRE provides the necessary quota of action, humor and brutality James Bond needs. Hoyte van Hoytema's cinematography is sharp and clever while Jany Temime takes her time to provide Bond and his girls beautiful clothing, as the great welcome back for the white tuxedo for Daniel Craig, red carnation included as Sean Connery immortalized in GOLDFINGER.

Cristoph Waltz is brillant as the mastermind in control of SPECTRE, whose real identity is revealed to Bond in a very clever and iconic way, and the organization that toppled missles and inagurated wars in the 1960s now deals with the things we are always afraid now: human trafficking, virus proliferation and counterfeit medications, not achieving their goals by public extorsion, but by infiltrating the intelligence services of the nations.

I felt very happy after all the screenings of the movie, that hasn't bored me one bit and found totally addictive. And even when I won't go deeper into my personal life, there is one of my viewings that will remain forever in my heart, for the simplicity of the moment and for the beautiful and sweet woman that joined me in that moment: always supporting, enjoying and encouraging my Bondmanship and caring for me. I'm afraid I won't say anything else, but the circumstances surrounding one of the five SPECTRE screenings I attended touched me emotionally as much as the days when my dad took me to watch TOMORROW NEVER DIES and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH to the theatre.

Just as the kid in me met the adult I am now in that moment, SPECTRE is the perfect combination between the classic Bond and the reboot Bond, many steps ahead of what we've seen in SKYFALL. It is uncertain if Daniel Craig will retire after this one -as suggested by the very last moments of the movie- but if he does, he'll retire with a very good one!

GOLDENEYE TURNS 20 TODAY!

Our beloved 17th James Bond film, GOLDENEYE, celebrates its 20th anniversary today. After six and a half year of silence, agent 007 returned to the big screen with a new face, but with the same charm and style than ever. 

Unfortunately, our budget is very low to make a big event and the release of SPECTRE plus our "real life" activities prevented us to dedicate the film more time, yet, we invite you all to write us on our social media networks (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) to reflect on your first time watching the film and the impact it had in your life as a Bond fan. More SPECTRE Posters and a new TV Spot

Three new SPECTRE posters were released today by 007.com, featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond and Parisian actress Léa Seydoux as his female love interest, Dr Madeleine Swann. A new TV spot featuring shots of the Bond vs Hinx (Dave Bautista) fight was also unveiled.

Much in the style of SKYFALL, one of the poster/banner shows Bond and Madeleine in front of a big 007 logo reflecting the image of the secret agent wearing a skull mask during the Mexican Día de los muertos (Day of the Dead) event.

Another image simply showed Daniel Craig wearing the skull mask. This set looks very vivid oposed to SKYFALL's simplistic and monochromatic campaign, even when -following today's trend- look very minimalistic opposed to the classic Bond film posters (let's say GOLDENEYE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER or THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS).

The official Bond Twitter account also offered followers a brand new TV spot with new footage, particularly of the train fight between 007 and henchman Hinx, played by former wrestler Dave Bautista.

SPECTRE releases on the UK on October 26 and on November 6 in the US. 

IT'S OFFICIAL: Sam Smith will perform "Writing's on The Wall", from SPECTRE

British singer Sam Smith will perform and has co-written (with GRAMMY winner Jimmy Napes) the main title song for the upcoming SPECTRE, titled "Writing's on the Wall". The single will be released on September 25 on CD and Vinyl.

The 23-year-old artist, the first Birtish male performer in the series since Tom Jones sung "Thunderball" in 1965, said: “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

If some GOLDENEYE enthusiasts noted a connection between the song's title and a certain exchange that took place twenty years ago between Desmond Llewelyn and Pierce Brosnan in a certain film, we're meant to believe it's pure coincidence.

New SPECTRE poster released

EON Productions released today a new poster for the upcoming James Bond film SPECTRE, to be released on October 26. The artwork features Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's 007 wearing a Tom Ford dinner jacket, evoking the look Sean Connery immortailzed in 1964's GOLDFINGER.

Much in the style of the Craig era posters, there isn't much detail in the image. A skull taken from the opening "Día de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) parade can be seen in the background, which again links the movie with director Sam Mendes' favourite film LIVE AND LET DIE, Roger Moore's debut in as James Bond in 1973.

The film's credits are featured in the poster, giving away a big surprise: Daniel Craig is credited as co-producer, marking the first time in the franchise the lead actor officialy joins the crew.

The theatrical trailer for the 24th James Bond film, SPECTRE, has been released today at 8am BST. Starring Daniel Craig as James Bond and directed by Sam Mendes after the success of SKYFALL, the film pits 007 against the famous criminal organization.

SPECTRE releases on the UK on October 26 and on the US on November 6, 2015.
